The 12 Marketing Copywriting Angles

Entrepreneurs Circle Certified Coach

marketing copywriting anglesWhen creating marketing and advertisement copy there are 12 marketing copywriting angles you can take…

New
The most popular messaging. People are attracted to the new and shiny, so definitely test this out if it is something new but don’t lie about it.

Save Money
Who doesn’t love to get a deal and save money?

Save Time
We each only have so many hours in a day. Everyone loves a shortcut.

Dog Whistle
This is exactly what sounds like it. You should call out a keyword, phrase, image or message that will resonate with your ideal audience and they will “prick up their ears” and listen to your message.

Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO)
This is a common one. Basically, you are playing on the fear that they will miss out if they don’t take action.

News Hijack
Piggyback what is going on in the news, especially if it is news related to your industry. Steer clear of the usual contentious issues – religion, politics etc

Better Mousetrap
Similar flavour to the New angle, however, everybody’s always looking for a better way to do something.

Us versus Them
Here you’re highlighting a common enemy. Basically, you are saying we’re a group and we don’t like these other people.

Social Proof
Which is showing other people who are using your product or service. It shows that the reader is making the right choice because others are doing the same. Safety in numbers.

Shout
You are actually shouting to just a generic trait that they have so small business owners literally all in CAPITALS.

Bandwagon
The bandwagon angle is, hey, everybody else is doing it, you probably want to do it too.

SpamKill – stop spambots filling your Keap / Infusionsoft database

spamkill infusionsoft

stop spambots filling your Keap / Infusionsoft databaseSpamKill is an Keap / Infusionsoft tool that is very highly recommended by Keap / Infusionsoft Consultants and it enables you to stop spambots filling your Keap / Infusionsoft database.

Have you ever found a whole heap of “crap” contacts in your Keap / Infusionsoft? These are created by spambots that latch on to your Keap / Infusionsoft forms and automatically submit the form with rubbish.

Now, Keap / Infusionsoft does have the Google Captcha built-in. But this does not completely solve the issue. This is because the Google Captcha only works after the first spam submission. So all the spambot has to do is switch to a different IP address and it then carries on adding a heap of crap contacts.

Now, you can combat this with a simple Keap / Infusionsoft campaign that involves asking on the form a simple question – that will identify the real contacts and then you can manually delete the spam contacts in batches. So it solves the issue but adds an extra step for the contact filling in the form and creates a bit of manually housekeeping in your Infusionsodft. Here is my blog post on how to do this.

But Spamkill is a powerful paid for tool that just solves this issue for you and prevents the spam bot even submitting your forms.

Check out Spamkill here.

Answer the Phone!!! – Foundation Block 11- Entrepreneurs Marketing System

highlevel voice ai inbound demo

One of the foundations of the Entrepreneurs marketing system has always been simple. Answer the blinking phone.

It sounds obvious, yet it remains one of the biggest points of failure in small and growing businesses. It is amazing how many potential customers ring a business, hear it ring out, leave a message, or are diverted to voicemail. In that moment, momentum is lost.

Sales data and experience across many industries show that you have a golden 10 minutes to respond to a new enquiry. If a call or voicemail is not handled within that window, the chances of converting that enquiry into a sale drop off dramatically. After an hour, the odds are significantly lower. After a day, they are often close to zero.

Even when a message is left, many businesses do not have a clear system or assigned responsibility for returning calls quickly. Staff are busy, messages are missed, or callbacks happen hours later. By then, the prospect has often spoken to someone else who answered the phone first.

Historically, the solution was to use an external call answering service. There are many excellent providers who can professionally answer calls, take messages, and pass them back to your team. For years, that was the most practical option available and in many cases it still works well.

Today, this problem is effectively solved.

With AI-powered call handling, businesses can now respond instantly, every time, and well within that critical 10-minute window. MarketerM8, built on the HighLevel platform, includes Voice AI that acts like a trained receptionist. It answers calls 24/7, understands the caller’s intent, asks the right questions, books appointments, captures details, and logs everything directly into your CRM.

This removes the risk entirely. No missed calls. No delayed callbacks. No reliance on someone remembering to follow up. Every enquiry is handled immediately and consistently, and automated follow-up can take over where needed.

If you want to see how this works in practice, the best way is to experience it yourself.

Neighbourhood Cards – Foundation Block 9 – Entrepreneurs Marketing System

Neighbourhood card

Neighbourhood Cards

This only applies if your business involves going out to customers homes and delivering your service. But if you are working at a customers home then you should invest a few extra minutes to drop neighbourhood cards at the surrounding homes – 5 to the right, 5 to the left and the 10 homes opposite. It is even better if you can mention your customers name on the card – a pre-emptive referral. Educate your field staff that –β€œNo job is not complete till the neighbourhood cards are delivered”.

To make this super successful we suggest you incentivise field staff to drop the cards out as they work on-site. Check out the library of eyecatching Neighbourhood cards I am curating.

Knowledge Centre – Foundation Block 8 – Entrepreneurs Marketing System

they ask you answer marcus sheridan

knowledge Centre

For this Foundation Block on the Knowledge Centre, I recommend that you obtain a copy of the excellent book β€œThey Ask You Answer” by Marcus Sheridan. In your business you are an expert, you know your stuff. If you use this to passionately educate your potential customers then this will draw customers to you as they grow to know, like and trust you.

Knowledge CentreThis book is the bible on how to do this. It’s not a book full of jargon and marketing β€œspin” on SEO. It’s easy to read and understand for the layperson. Building content and being seen as the β€œgo-to” expert is not a quick win and it can take 6 months to start to see results from Google searches, but once it is up and running then it can make a significant difference to your business.

This works because Google wants to give searchers great information you and your team are already answering the questions every day from potential customers, just formalise the capture of the questions and create content that Google can find as web pages, posts and videos. All you need to do is feed Google quality content and you will reap the rewards.

Marketing Calendar – Foundation Block 7 – Entrepreneurs Marketing System

Marketing Calendar

Marketing calendar

A marketing calendar can make all the difference. By considering the marketing on a whole year basis it enables you to plan out campaigns so that advertising, offers and promotions all logically β€œfit together”. It enables you to conduct your marketing in a planned methodical way, rather than reacting to what your competitors do or rushing at the last minute to get that Christmas campaign out when it should have been ready to go two months earlier.

Having a marketing calendar gives you and your staff a focus, rather than chasing the latest new idea with no overall plan.

Here is our Marketing Calendar that you are free to use.

Price Review – Foundation Block 5 – Entrepreneurs Marketing System

Price Review

Price Review Entrepreneurs Circle Certified Coach

We have found over the years that most businesses have the potential to add a 5 figure sum to their net profit, simply by increasing their prices by 10%. This can often be a big win that is relatively simple to implement.

Most businesses have not looked at the pricing in some time and there can be many factors holding back business owners from increasing prices – fear of losing customers, fear of appearing too expensive in the marketplace is to name but two. Often these fears turn out to be completely unfounded providing you offer an excellent service. We find that any hesitant business owners are most comfortable testing a price increase with new customers first and then rolling out to existing customers later.

Follow Up Process – Foundation Block 4 – Entrepreneurs Marketing System

Follow up process

You need a systemised way to follow up with enquirers. In any market, only 3% of people are ready to buy right now. So if you are paying for Google or Facebook ads then you need a way to capture and follow up with the large proportion of people who are not ready to buy today but maybe looking in the future to buy what you sell.

So you need to create marketing assets that not only appeal to people who are ready to buy now, but to those who are seeking out information for a potential purchase later on. So create marketing assets such as free reports, information videos, webinars, short courses etc.

To enable contact to follow up in a systemised and time-efficient way you will need a CRM / Marketing automation tool. Solutions range from free/simple tools like MailChimp to the more sophisticated software like Keap, Keap / Infusionsoft and SalesForce.

Choosing the right tool can make all the difference to your business. The key is to systematically capture contact information and use that information to keep in regular contact and occasionally ask recipients for their business.

Here’s an example of a world-class follow-up system.

It also gives you credibility, especially when youΒ combine this with the systematic collection of reviews (see FoundationΒ Block 6) . We recommend spending an hour every 6 months for a quickΒ review and update of your listing.
