🎓 HighLevel Live Training Workshop #1: GoHighLevel for Beginners: Free HighLevel Foundations Training : 17 November 2026

If you’ve just started using HighLevel, it can be difficult to know where to begin. HighLevel does a lot. CRM, email marketing, SMS, WhatsApp, calendars, sales pipelines, forms, websites, funnels, workflows, social media, reviews, payments, courses and increasingly AI all sit inside one platform. That’s incredibly powerful. But when you first log in, it can also leave you wondering: “What do I actually need to learn first?” That’s exactly why we created our HighLevel Foundations for Beginners workshop. It’s the first workshop in MarketerM8’s rolling programme of 13 free live HighLevel training workshops and is designed to give new HighLevel users the foundations they need before moving on to the more advanced parts of the platform. But there’s something important about the way I teach HighLevel. We’re not learning HighLevel simply for the sake of learning software. We’re learning how to use it to improve the way your business markets, sells and looks after customers. New to HighLevel? Join our free live HighLevel Foundations workshop and learn the essential building blocks you need to get started with HighLevel. Register for the next Free HighLevel Foundations Training Workshop HighLevel for Beginners: Where Should You Start? One of the biggest mistakes I see new HighLevel users make is trying to learn everything. You don’t need to. In fact, I’d recommend that you don’t. HighLevel is a huge platform, and there will almost certainly be parts of it that your business doesn’t need yet. Instead, start by understanding the basic building blocks. I’d concentrate initially on six things. 1. Understand Your HighLevel Account Before building anything complicated, learn your way around. Understand where your contacts live, where conversations appear, where opportunities are managed, where your calendars sit and where automations are built. You don’t need to understand every menu option. You need to become comfortable enough that HighLevel stops feeling unfamiliar. 2. Understand Contacts At the heart of HighLevel is your contact database. A contact might be a prospect, customer, past customer or another person your business communicates with. Their record can hold information such as their name, email address and telephone number, alongside custom information specific to your business. Understanding contacts is therefore one of the first things I’d recommend any HighLevel beginner learns. 3. Understand Conversations One of HighLevel’s strengths is bringing different customer communications together. Depending on how your account is configured, your team can potentially manage communications across channels such as email, SMS, telephone and WhatsApp from within HighLevel. For a beginner, the important concept isn’t necessarily how every communication feature works. It’s understanding that HighLevel can become a central place for managing customer conversations. 4. Understand Pipelines and Opportunities This is one of the areas that can initially confuse new HighLevel users. A contact is a person. An opportunity represents a potential deal or sale associated with a contact. A pipeline represents the sales process that opportunity moves through. For example: John Smith → £5,000 potential project → Sales Pipeline → Proposal Sent Once you understand that distinction, HighLevel’s Opportunities area starts to make considerably more sense. 5. Understand Calendars If people book appointments with your business, HighLevel’s calendars can potentially replace separate scheduling tools. But the bigger lesson for a beginner isn’t simply learning how to create a calendar. Think about the customer journey around the appointment. What happens when someone books? Should they receive confirmation? Do they need a reminder? Should somebody on your team be notified? What happens if they cancel? What happens if they don’t show up? This is where HighLevel starts moving from being a booking system to becoming a marketing automation platform. 6. Understand the Basic Idea Behind Workflows Workflows are where HighLevel becomes particularly powerful. But don’t start by trying to build an enormous automation. Start with the basic concept: Something happens → HighLevel automatically does something else. For example: Someone submits an enquiry form → Send confirmation email → Notify salesperson → Create opportunity Once you understand that basic principle, you can gradually build more sophisticated automations. You can also explore HighLevel’s official Getting Started with Workflows guide. Don’t Start With Complicated HighLevel Automations This deserves emphasising. HighLevel beginners often see demonstrations of sophisticated automations and immediately want to build them. I’d resist that temptation. A 75-step workflow isn’t necessarily better than a five-step workflow. In fact, if you don’t properly understand what you’re automating, you can simply make a bad process happen faster. Start with simple, useful wins. New enquiry → Immediate acknowledgement Appointment booked → Confirmation + reminder Missed telephone call → Automatic text message New customer → Welcome message + internal notification Learn how those work. Test them. Understand what happens to the contact. Then build from there. Marketing First. HighLevel Second. This is one of the most important things I try to teach new HighLevel users. Before asking: “How do I build this in HighLevel?” ask: “What am I trying to achieve?” That’s a subtle difference, but an important one. HighLevel gives you an enormous toolbox. But owning an enormous toolbox doesn’t automatically make you a good carpenter. You can build an elaborate email sequence around a poor offer. You can automate a bad sales process. You can create a sophisticated pipeline nobody in your business actually uses. You can introduce AI where a simple human conversation would work better. So we start with the business and marketing objective. Then we decide how HighLevel can help. HighLevel Training Backed by Real Marketing Experience This is also what makes our Foundations training a little different. I’m not simply somebody who has learned how to use HighLevel. I’ve worked hands-on in direct marketing since 1996 and with CRM and marketing automation since 2009. Since 2009, I’ve helped hundreds of businesses improve, automate and systemise their marketing. I’m also a Certified Entrepreneurs Circle Marketing Coach and have helped Entrepreneurs Circle GenieAI subscribers implement AI and marketing automation in their businesses. 🎓 HighLevel Live Training Workshop #13 : AI Employee Training : 2 March 2027

AI is rapidly changing what you can do with HighLevel. We’re moving well beyond simply asking AI to write an email or generate a social media post. HighLevel AI can now talk to your prospects, answer your telephone, help build websites and tools, work inside your HighLevel account and even operate a web browser to carry out tasks. That’s what we’ll explore in our free live GoHighLevel AI Training Workshop. We’ll take a top-line tour through some of the most exciting AI capabilities now appearing inside HighLevel, including: AI Employee Conversation AI Voice AI AI Studio AskAI and HighLevel’s AI Browser Control extension The important question throughout the workshop will be: What could this actually do in your business? This workshop is part of MarketerM8’s rolling programme of free live HighLevel training workshops. Discover What HighLevel AI Can Now Do From AI receptionists and website chat to building websites with AI and asking HighLevel to carry out tasks for you, the platform is evolving incredibly quickly. Register for the next Free HighLevel AI Employee Training Workshop What Is HighLevel AI Employee? HighLevel uses the term AI Employee for a growing collection of AI tools designed to help businesses automate work that would traditionally require a person. That can include communicating with prospects and customers, answering calls, booking appointments and helping your team complete tasks. But HighLevel’s AI story is now becoming much bigger than chatbots. HighLevel Conversation AI Conversation AI allows HighLevel to have written conversations with prospects and customers. For example, somebody could visit your website outside normal office hours and ask a question. Instead of simply leaving a message, the AI could potentially: Answer the question → Continue the conversation → Capture their details → Qualify the enquiry → Book an appointment That means your website chat can start behaving much more like an AI sales or customer service assistant. HighLevel Voice AI Voice AI takes a similar idea onto the telephone. You can create an AI agent capable of answering incoming calls and having a natural conversation with the caller. One obvious application is an AI receptionist. Imagine somebody calls your business at 8:30pm. Rather than reaching voicemail, the AI could answer, ask why they’re calling, answer appropriate questions, capture their information and potentially book an appointment. Incoming call → AI answers → Understands enquiry → Captures information → Books appointment or takes message → Team follows up Voice AI could be used after hours, for overflow calls or perhaps to handle particular types of routine enquiry. HighLevel AI Studio: Build by Talking to AI One of the most interesting recent developments is HighLevel AI Studio. Think of this as a rapidly evolving vibe-coding environment built directly into HighLevel. Instead of starting with a blank website builder or writing code yourself, you describe what you want. For example: “Build me a landing page for a plumbing company with a quote form and appointment calendar.” AI Studio can create the initial experience. You can then carry on talking to it: “Make the headline stronger.” “Add a testimonial section.” “Change this form.” “Create another page.” And the AI continues building and refining the project. It isn’t limited to straightforward websites either. AI Studio can create things such as: landing pages multi-page websites forms surveys booking experiences storefronts dashboards and other interactive web tools This is an area of HighLevel that is developing extremely quickly. AskAI: Imagine ChatGPT Built Into HighLevel Then there’s AskAI. The easiest way to understand AskAI is to imagine something like ChatGPT specifically for HighLevel. You can ask it questions in natural language. For example: “How do I create a workflow that follows up somebody who misses an appointment?” But this is where it becomes much more interesting. AskAI isn’t limited to telling you how HighLevel works. It understands the HighLevel environment and, for supported areas of the platform, can actually take actions for you. So instead of AI simply saying: “Here are the six steps you need to follow…” we’re moving towards: “I’ll do that for you.” AskAI can retrieve information, create content, work with HighLevel data and carry out supported actions across the platform. That starts to change the relationship you have with software. Instead of learning where every button and menu lives, increasingly you can simply tell HighLevel what you want to achieve. HighLevel AI Is Becoming Far More Than a Chatbot Talk to customers. Answer phone calls. Build websites. Create tools. Ask HighLevel questions. Get AI to carry out tasks. Register for the next Free HighLevel AI Employee Training Workshop HighLevel’s AI Browser Control Takes AskAI to Another Level HighLevel has taken AskAI another step further with its AI Browser Control extension for Chrome-based browsers. This gives AskAI the ability to operate a web browser. It can perform supported browser actions such as: opening web pages navigating websites clicking buttons typing into fields filling in forms reading information from pages and completing multi-step browser tasks You can watch what it is doing as it works. So AskAI is no longer limited to actions that happen inside HighLevel. It can potentially interact with other browser-based systems as part of the task you’ve given it. That’s a significant change. AI gives me advice → AI helps me inside HighLevel → AI actually carries out the task The Direction of Travel Is the Important Part Some of these HighLevel AI tools are developing incredibly quickly. Individual capabilities will change. New actions will appear. Existing tools will become more sophisticated. So the purpose of this workshop isn’t to provide an exhaustive list of every AI button currently inside HighLevel. That list could be out of date surprisingly quickly. Instead, we’ll look at the bigger picture. HighLevel is steadily bringing AI into more parts of the platform. Talk to AI → Tell it what you want → Let it help build, configure or carry out the work That is a very different way of using business software. What Could an AI Employee Do in Your Business? 🎓 HighLevel Live Training Workshop #12 : Advanced Marketing Training : 23 February 2027

Once you understand the basics of HighLevel, the next challenge is usually not learning another feature. It’s working out how to use HighLevel to solve real marketing problems. That’s the focus of our free Advanced HighLevel Marketing Training Workshop. This is deliberately different from our earlier workshops. Rather than simply working through another part of the software, we’ll look at more advanced marketing ideas and then spend a substantial part of the session working through real HighLevel marketing challenges brought by attendees. So if you’ve got a campaign, workflow or marketing problem you’re trying to solve, this is the workshop to bring it to. This workshop is part of MarketerM8’s rolling programme of 13 free live HighLevel training workshops. Bring Your HighLevel Marketing Challenge Join our free live Advanced HighLevel Marketing workshop. Learn some of our more advanced marketing strategies, then bring your own HighLevel campaign, workflow or marketing challenge into the live hotseat. Register for the next Free HighLevel Advanced Marketing Training Workshop What Makes This HighLevel Workshop Different? Most of our HighLevel workshops concentrate on a specific part of the platform. This one is different. The Advanced Marketing workshop is designed for people who already understand the basics and now want to use HighLevel more strategically. We’ll look at some more advanced marketing ideas, but the real value comes from applying them to actual business problems. That means less: “Here’s another HighLevel feature.” And more: “Here’s the marketing problem. How should we solve it?” The Advanced HighLevel Marketing Hotseat The hotseat is a major part of this workshop. You can bring a real HighLevel marketing challenge and we’ll work through it together live. For example, you might be struggling with: a workflow that’s becoming too complicated; prospects who aren’t being followed up properly; old leads sitting unused in your database; how to combine email, SMS or WhatsApp; how to generate more reviews or referrals; how to capture social media enquiries properly; or how to turn a marketing idea into a practical HighLevel system. We can look at the problem, map the customer journey and discuss how HighLevel could be used to improve it. Start With the Marketing Problem, Not the Workflow Builder One of the most useful advanced HighLevel habits is learning to stop building before you’ve thought. It’s very easy to open the Workflow Builder and immediately start adding triggers, delays, branches and actions. Before long, you’ve created something complicated without being completely clear what it’s supposed to achieve. Instead, start by mapping the journey. Where does the contact enter? → What should happen next? → What happens if they respond? → What happens if they don’t? → When should a human take over? Once those questions are clear, building the automation becomes much easier. Advanced Doesn’t Have to Mean Complicated A sophisticated HighLevel system does not need to contain enormous workflows with dozens of branches. Often, the best advanced marketing systems are actually easier to understand because they’ve been properly thought through. The goal is to create something that: solves the marketing problem; uses the right communication at the right time; removes repetitive work; hands over to a human when appropriate; and can still be understood six months later. Multi-Channel Marketing With HighLevel One of the areas we’ll explore is how to combine different communication channels. Depending on your business, that might include: email; SMS; WhatsApp; and human sales follow-up. The objective isn’t to send the same message through every channel. It’s to decide which channel makes the most sense at each point in the customer journey. For example: New enquiry → Immediate SMS acknowledgement → Detailed email → Human sales follow-up → Appointment reminder Reactivating Old Prospects and Customers Advanced marketing isn’t always about generating more new leads. Sometimes there are already valuable opportunities sitting inside your database. That might include: old enquiries; quotes that didn’t proceed; past customers; inactive clients; or prospects who simply weren’t ready at the time. We’ll look at how HighLevel can be used to create sensible reactivation and long-term follow-up campaigns. Before spending more money finding new prospects, it can be worth asking: “Who already knows us but hasn’t bought recently?” Reviews and Referrals Two other areas we explore are reviews and referrals. Many businesses leave both to chance. A customer has a great experience, but nobody asks them for a review. A happy client would happily recommend the business, but nobody asks. HighLevel can help make both processes more systematic. We’ll look at MarketerM8’s AI Reviews and AI Referrals campaigns and how they can form part of a wider customer journey. Capturing Social Media Leads Social media enquiries can easily disappear inside individual inboxes and messaging platforms. We’ll also look at our Inbound Social Media Contact Capture process. The objective is simple. When somebody becomes a genuine prospect through social media, they should ideally become part of the CRM and sales process rather than remain hidden in a social inbox. Using MarketerM8 Snapshots We’ll demonstrate several MarketerM8 campaign snapshots during the workshop, including: Evergreen Prospects; AI Reviews; AI Referrals; and Inbound Social Media Contact Capture. But the important thing isn’t simply importing a snapshot. You need to understand what it does, who should enter it, when somebody should leave it and how it fits with the rest of your HighLevel setup. Don’t Deploy Automation Blindly Whether you’re using a snapshot or building from scratch, always understand the journey before switching it on. Ask: Who enters this automation? What are they going to receive? What stops the automation? Does it conflict with anything else? When should somebody on the team take over? Advanced marketing is as much about avoiding bad automation as creating clever automation. Got a HighLevel Marketing Problem? Bring it to the workshop. The live hotseat gives you the chance to explore real campaigns, workflows and marketing challenges with Julian and the group. HighLevel Managed Agents vs n8n: From Robotic Automation to AI Assistants

For years, business automation has largely been about telling software exactly what to do, step by step. Now that’s changing. With AI Managed Agents, we can increasingly give software a job to complete and let it work out how to achieve the result. Think of it as the difference between programming a robot and delegating a job to a human assistant. HighLevel’s new Managed Agents are part of this evolution. And with HighLevel now offering an importer for existing n8n workflows, businesses have an interesting opportunity to rethink how they automate their operations. But are Managed Agents actually better than n8n? And does importing an existing workflow automatically make it more intelligent? Let’s explore. Traditional automation: The robot that follows instructions Many business owners will be familiar with Zapier. Zapier connects different software applications and automates tasks between them. For example, when somebody completes a website enquiry form, an automation might: Add the person’s details to your CRM. Send an acknowledgement email. Create an opportunity in your sales pipeline. Assign the opportunity to a salesperson. Create a follow-up task. Every step is planned in advance. It’s like programming a robot. You tell it what to do, and it follows those instructions. Assuming everything works correctly, it repeats the process consistently. But what happens when something unexpected occurs? Perhaps the customer’s information is incomplete. An external application returns an error. Or the enquiry doesn’t fit the rules you’ve programmed. Unless you’ve anticipated that situation and built in suitable error handling, the automation may stop or produce an undesirable result. Where does n8n fit in? n8n works on a similar principle to Zapier, but provides extensive flexibility for more sophisticated automations. It uses a visual workflow builder where you connect individual steps, called nodes. These can perform actions, process information, make decisions, call APIs and communicate with other applications. n8n is particularly useful for complex integrations and processes involving several different software systems. It can also be self-hosted, giving businesses greater control over their infrastructure. Importantly, n8n now supports AI agents too. It isn’t limited to traditional rule-based automation. However, for this comparison, we’re looking primarily at conventional n8n workflows where the steps and decision paths are defined in advance. HighLevel Managed Agents: More like a human assistant HighLevel Managed Agents take a different approach. Instead of programming every individual step, you describe the job you want completed. Think of it as writing a job description for a new employee. For inspiration, see my 10 practical HighLevel Managed Agent ideas for small businesses. Whenever a new sales enquiry arrives, research the prospect, check their CRM history, identify what they’re interested in and prepare an appropriate follow-up for the salesperson. You give the agent an objective, instructions and access to appropriate tools. It can then interpret information, make decisions and work towards the outcome. Rather than following one fixed route, it may be able to adapt its approach depending on what it discovers. That’s the exciting difference. Can Managed Agents self-heal? To an extent, yes. Imagine an agent is researching a prospective customer but can’t find useful information using its first search. Rather than simply stopping, it might try another search or use a different source. If an external application returns an unexpected response, it may be able to interpret the problem and attempt an alternative approach. This is sometimes described as self-healing. But we shouldn’t overstate it. An agent cannot necessarily repair broken integrations, fix incorrect credentials or overcome a software outage. Its ability to recover depends on its instructions, permissions and available tools. Conventional workflows can also include retries and alternative paths. The difference is that an AI agent may be able to choose an alternative without every possibility being programmed in advance. The downside: AI can hallucinate There’s a trade-off. Traditional automation generally follows predictable rules. AI agents have more freedom to interpret information and make decisions, but they can also get things wrong. They might misunderstand an instruction, make an incorrect assumption or invent information. Imagine asking an agent to research a prospect and prepare a personalised email. It might produce an excellent message. But what if it incorrectly identifies the prospect’s industry or invents something about their business? If the agent sends that email without approval, the mistake could reach the customer. That’s why I think we need to treat AI agents much like new employees. Give them clear instructions, sensible permissions and appropriate supervision. Test their work before allowing them to make important decisions independently. Sometimes you want an intelligent assistant who can adapt. Other times you want a robot that follows the same rules every time. Neither approach is universally better. HighLevel Managed Agents vs n8n: The key differences Traditional n8n workflows HighLevel Managed Agents Follow predefined steps Work towards an objective Explicit rules and conditions AI interprets information Predictable execution Greater flexibility Require configured error handling May adapt to unexpected situations Excellent for complex integrations Useful for AI-led business tasks Often require technical knowledge Can be configured in natural language Can include AI capabilities AI reasoning is central Remember, n8n also supports AI agents, while HighLevel has conventional rule-based workflows. So we’re comparing two approaches to automation, not suggesting that everything built in n8n is robotic. A practical example: Handling a new sales enquiry Let’s imagine you run a company installing windows, doors and conservatories. A potential customer completes an enquiry form on your website. They write: I’m looking at replacing the windows in our house, but we’re also thinking about building an extension next year. Not sure whether to do everything together or in stages. Can somebody advise? How might the two approaches handle this? Using a traditional n8n workflow We could build an automation that: Creates or updates the customer’s CRM record. Adds a tag based on their selected enquiry type. Sends a standard acknowledgement email. Creates an opportunity in the sales pipeline. Notifies a salesperson to follow up. This is perfectly sensible automation. It ensures the enquiry is recorded, acknowledged and Read more…
